Privacy policy
Note: This policy describes how Bee Health Companion is built today. Have it reviewed by a qualified attorney before your public app launch and whenever features change.
Bee Health Companion ("Bee," "we," "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what we collect through beehealthcompanion.com and the Bee Health Companion app, how we use it, and the choices you have.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run the app and answer you, and nothing more.
- We do not sell your personal information or health data.
- Our general analytics never include your readings, medicine names, health notes, care-team details, or AI conversations.
- You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time.
What we collect on the website
- Community account: see "What we collect in the community" below.
- Forms you send us: your email, optional first name, and what you write (for example, the early-access list, community stories, or support messages).
- Basic server logs: our web host may record technical details like IP address, browser type, and pages visited to keep the site secure and working.
The website does not use advertising cookies. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address.
What we collect in the community
- Email address: used only to send your one-time sign-in code and important account notices. Other members never see it.
- Username: the name you choose. It is shown next to everything you post.
- What you post: your questions, replies, helpful marks, and reports. Posts are public to anyone who visits the community page.
- Sign-in records: a session cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days, plus scrambled (hashed) IP data used only to stop spam and abuse.
- Bee AI: when you click Ask Bee, the discussion title and details are sent to our AI provider (OpenAI) to write a general answer. New posts and replies are also sent to it for a quick safety screen. We do not send your email or username. We set a daily limit on these requests.
- Safety alerts: when a post is stopped because it describes emergency warning signs, a very high reading, or a treatment change, we record only the type of alert and the date. We do not save the words you typed.
Community data is stored on our website host, Hostinger, in a private folder that is not reachable from the web. You can delete your posts at any time, or delete your whole community account from the community page.
What we collect in the app
- Account details: your email address, used to send one-time sign-in codes. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk.
- Health information you enter: blood pressure and pulse readings, how they were taken, medicines and reminder times, appointments, and Healthy Habits progress. This is stored in our database (Neon PostgreSQL), tied to your account.
- Reminders: created and delivered on your device as local notifications.
- Optional AI assistant: if you turn it on, the questions you type are sent to our server and processed by OpenAI to create a general lifestyle answer. It is off unless you agree to it.
- Privacy-safe analytics: general usage events (like "opened the report screen") that exclude health details.
How we use information
- To run the app: sign you in, save and show your records, and build your reports.
- To reply to your messages and send launch or service emails you asked for.
- To improve the website and app using information that does not include your health details.
- To keep our services secure and follow the law.
How we share information
We share information only with service providers that help us run Bee, under agreements that limit how they use it. These include our hosting providers (Vercel for the app, Hostinger for this website), Clerk for sign-in, Neon for our database, and OpenAI for the optional assistant. We may also share information if required by law or to protect someone's safety.
We do not share your health information with advertisers, data brokers, employers, or insurers. If that ever changes, we will ask for your clear permission first.
Health privacy laws
Bee is a consumer app you choose to use. It is not a healthcare provider or health plan, so HIPAA generally does not apply to the information you put in it. We still treat your health information as sensitive and protect it.
Your choices and rights
- Access and correction: you can view and edit your records in the app.
- Community deletion: sign in on the community page and choose "Delete my account." This removes your username, posts, replies, and helpful marks.
- Deletion: you can delete your app account in the app, or email us at hello@beehealthcompanion.com from the address on your account.
- Emails: you can unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link in it.
- AI assistant: you can choose not to turn it on.
Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under state law. Contact us and we will help.
Security
We use encrypted connections, access controls, and trusted providers to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so please contact us right away if you think your account is at risk.
Children
Bee is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes, we will update the date above and let app users know before the change takes effect.
